The life and times of Robert Spencer

At last, after the disappointment and failure of my work with the classical guitarist and lutenist, Julian Bream, I have decided on a new project.  Robert Spencer (1932 – 1977) was a singer, lutenist, musicologist, researcher and collector of musical manuscripts and pictures.  But more than that he was a generous teacher and friend and I’m sorry I never knew him personally.

It will be so good to be back at work again and thanks to the generosity of Bob’s family and the wonderful archive of his musical collection, held by the Royal Academy of Music, it should be possible to create a good picture of his personality, work and life.  If anyone reading this has any information which might help my research, then please do contact me through this blog
